About Me & My Shelties

Hi. My name is Shirley, AKA Sheltiesmama, and I live in Houston, Texas. I've loved animals all my life but my main love has always been dogs. As you can see by the pictures I'm owned and loved by two gorgeous sable and white shelties, an amazingly handsome tri-colored sheltie, and an extremely beautiful blue merle sheltie.Just last year I lost Bella, my blue merle Collie, and Casey, my awesome rescue Sheltie. My beautiful babies and they left me way too early.

Also living with me are two very spoiled cats, Maya and Tobey. Add two parakeets, Ricky and Lucy, to the mixture and it gets quite chaotic here at times. Despite the odds they are all best friends.

My love for Shelties happened quite by accident. I was at a local flea market, (Yes, I know now, not at all the way to acquire a pet) when I spotted a cage with two small sable and white pups. I put my hand in the cage and the female starting gently chewing on my hand. I was immediately smitten. That little female was to be known as Molly, the main reason for my fascination and utter devotion to the breed of Shetland Sheepdogs.All of my animals are spayed or neutered, with the exception of the parakeets of course. I'm not a breeder and I don't sell animals in any way. There are several reasons I don't breed. First, I believe it is something that should be left to people that are willing and able to do all and any genetic testing that is necessary to benefit the standards of a breed. Second, there are way too many unwanted animals in the world and indiscriminate breeding only adds to the problem. Last is quite selfish. I would want to keep all the puppies for myself and my house and budget just aren't big enough for that.
